Meghan McCain Says Her Dad 'Taught Me What Life Is Really About'
"I'm just not scared of death like I once was because I know now he's gonna be waiting for me on the other side," Meghan McCain said Monday.

PHOENIX, AZ – Meghan McCain says that her dad, Republican U.S. Sen. John McCain, has "taught me what life is really about." Speaking Monday on "The View," where she is a co-host, McCain spoke about her father's legacy.
"He's so brave, and coming together as a country and not delving into this crap that we're at right now, with divisiveness and not being able to speak to the other side, and you have to hate the other person, and we have no decency, and death jokes are acceptable, and you can never apologize — that is not the McCain way, and it's never gonna be," she said.
Since December, Arizona's senior senator has been at his family home outside of Sedona, where he's been battling an aggressive form of brain cancer.

"I'm just not scared of death the way I once was," she said on the show. "I know now he's going to be waiting for me on the other side. And he's taught me what life's always about — he always has, but the last year, in particular."

McCain was speaking with her father's longtime co-author, Mark Salter, about McCain's new book, which is to be officially released on Tuesday.
With Salter was filmmaker Teddy Kunhardt who has made a documentary about the senator that debuts on HBO on Memorial Day.
They played a clip from the documentary on "The View."
"I will continue to do everything that I can, but I'm also very aware that none of us live forever," Sen. McCain said. "And I'm confident, and I'm happy and I'm very grateful for the life I've been able to lead. And I greet the future with joy."
