Phoenix Boy, 3, Dies After Police Find Him in Grand Canal

Police pulled the toddler from the canal Sunday after he wandered from his family's home, Phoenix police said.

PHOENIX, AZ — A 3-year-old boy died Sunday night hours after police pulled him from Phoenix's Grand Canal, police said.

The unidentified toddler was located in the waterway around 5:30 p.m. Sunday near 55th Avenue and Osborn Road, according to police.

Phoenix fire personnel performed CPR on the toddler, who died at a nearby hospital after being transported there in critical condition, police said.

The toddler left his family's house, which backed up onto the canal near west Osborn Road and north 55th Avenue. He was found him in the canal later, according to police.

No arrests were made, and no charges have been leveled.
