Phoenix Man Stabs Wife Of 40 Years, Attempts Suicide, Is Arrested

Ricardo Poblete's wife survived the attack and told officers that her husband of 40-years "just went nuts."

PHOENIX, AZ – A man who repeatedly stabbed his wife of 40 years and then tried to kill himself is under arrest. Ricardo Poblete is charged with attempted murder.

His wife survived the attack and is in the hospital.

Police say that officers arrived at the couple's home arrested him and rushed her to the hospital.

After he was read his rights, police say that he told them that he and his wife had "made a vow 40 years ago in the church to be faithful to each other and since she was not honoring her side of the promise he intended to kill her and himself.

"Ricardo stated that he gave her several opportunities to be honest and tell him he truth but she continued to lie to him."

Police say that he said "he was going to leave this world knowing that he fulfilled his side of the vow."

After stabbing her repeatedly and deciding that she was dead, he turned the knife on himself, stabbing himself in the chest and arm.

He was treated for his injuries and booked into jail.

His wife told officers that her husband had been using drugs and had become very jealous, accusing her of cheating on him, which she denied..

She said that he "just went nuts."
