Phoenix Mayor Race: Kate Gallego Endorsed By Carpenters Union
Phoenix City Councilwoman Kate Gallego picked up another endorsement in her bid to succeed Greg Stanton as Mayor of Phoenix.

PHOENIX, AZ – Councilwoman Kate Gallego picked up an endorsement Monday that she hopes will help build her campaign for mayor. The Arizona Carpenters Union announced their 2,800 members are throwing their weight behind her run.
"She understands the challenges of working families and as a proven problem-solver, she will be a fighter for all of us," said the President of Carpenters Local 1912, Fabian Sandez, said of Gallego.
"She has worked tirelessly to make sure that our infrastructure systems are constantly improving to benefit residents."

Gallego wants to succeed Greg Stanton who is running for Congress. (Get Phoenix Patch's daily newsletter and real-time news alerts. Or, find your local Patch here and subscribe).
Stanton has not yet resigned from office. The law says he doesn't have to step down until he turns his petitions to get on the ballot in his run for Congress. Those petitions are not due until May 30.

The law says that Gallego and two of her colleagues on the council – Daniel Valenzuela and Sal DiCiccio who are also running – will also have to step down from their positions.
Gallego, who was first elected to the council in 2013, has also won the endorsements of the Arizona Cement Masons, Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers, the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Shop Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers, the International Union of Elevator Constructors, the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, and the UA Plumbers and Pipefitters.
