A 38-year-old Phoenix motorcyclist who rear-ended a stopped Corolla in August has died, police reported Thursday.
PHOENIX, AZ – A motorcyclist who rear-ended a stopped Toyota Corolla on Aug. 23 has died, the Phoenix PD reported Thursday. Around 12:45 p.m. Aug. 23, a 57-year-old female driver in a 2015 Toyota Corolla was stopped in the Thomas Road curb lane facing westbound at approximately 8th Street, because of a traffic backup resulting from a 7th Street red light. Meanwhile, thirty-eight-year-old Matthew Streu was headed westbound on Thomas Road on a 2000 Suzuki motorcycle when he rear-ended the stopped Corolla. Streu was taken to an area hospital in extremely critical condition and died almost two weeks later.
At the time of the accident, the Corolla driver cooperated with police, who observed no signs of impairment. Police determined that speed might have been a cause of the accident.
