Phoenix PD Name Couple From Chase That Led To Death Of Police Dog
Police say that Laura Dagnino and Jairo Quinter led officers on a high-speed chase through downtown before finally being arrested.

PHOENIX, AZ – We still don't know how Bane died. Bane was a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois working as a K9 officer with the Phoenix Police Department. He died while on duty Tuesday.
Police say that Bane's handler had released him into a home where 27-year-old Jairo Adair Contreras Quinter was hiding in the attic. At some point, Quinter fell through the ceiling and refused to surrender even though police had breached windows and used gas to encourage him to do.
When officers entered the home by 2800 W. Rovey Avenue and found Quinter, they also found Bane, mortally wounded.

Police say it was driven by Quinter and 24-year-old Laura Dagnino was his passenger.
As officers approached, Quinter and Dagnino fled, police say.
The couple then allegedly stole another vehicle around 41st Avenue and Bethany Home Road and then a third vehicle from the parking garae of the shopping center by 25th and Camelback Road.
As they fled the shopping center, a Special Assignments Unit officer saw what happened and fired shots into the newly stolen vehicle.
Officers then used spike strips by 27th and Glendale Avenue, puncturing one of the tires of the stolen vehicle, causing it to crash into the front yard of a home by 2800 West Berridge Lane.
Police say that Quinter and Dagnino tried to flee. Dagnino was quickly arrested and Quinter was tracked to the house where Bane later died and he was arrested.
Dagnino is charged with armed robbery and motor vehicle theft as well as in connection with an outstanding warrant on drug charges.
Quinter is charged with killing or harming a working service animal, one count of animal cruel intentional mistreatment, armed robbery, motor vehicle theft, burglary, and other counts including in connection with an outstanding warrant for trespassing and motor vehicle theft.
