Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:
- A single-engine plane registered to a Phoenix engraving company crashed in Garland County, Arkansas, resulting in one fatality and one injury. The aircraft was traveling from Kentucky when it went down in Lake Hamilton. The pilot, 49-year-old Daniel Dale Jones, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 23-year-old woman named Denise Jones was taken to a local hospital for treatment. As of the time of this writing, it is unclear if the two onboard were Arizona residents. (12news.com KPNX)
- Two Phoenix theaters, Valley Youth Theatre and the Herberger Theater Center, have formed a partnership to bring the acclaimed musical "The Addams Family" to the stage near Halloween. The show will be hosted at the Herberger Theater Center and will run from Friday, Oct. 13, through Sunday, Oct. 29. With the aim of creating a grand and spooky experience, the collaboration between the theaters will provide a larger audience for the show, celebrating their long history together. - An Arizona vegan restaurant, Green New American Vegetarian, secured the 18th spot on Yelp's prestigious "Top 100 Burgers in America" list for 2023. According to Yelp, the rankings were determined by the ratings and reviews of burger enthusiasts, showcasing a "burger revolution" characterized by diverse elements such as vegan options, fusion flavors, and unique buns. The restaurant's nearby Tempe location, at 2240 N Scottsdale Rd. #113, was highlighted by Yelp in its coverage of the acclaimed list.
