Phoenix Police Corral Wayward Emu Back Home: Video
Calls about a large bird wandering the streets near 65th Street and Cactus Road starting coming in at about 6 a.m. Sunday.

PHOENIX, AZ — Phoenix Police say no fowl play was suspected in a case of a runway pet bird as it strolled along Cactus Road and 65th Street Sunday morning.
The b(emu)sing story of the animal's escape began at around 6 a.m. when neighbors started calling police about a "large bird" loose in the area.
The ordeal had officers from both the Scottsdale and Phoenix police departments working together to corral the bird. Scottsdale Police eventually got hands on the emu and held it until Phoenix Police showed up.

The responding officer, barely twice the size of the bird, strutted along as her colleagues streamed the unusual event live on Facebook:
