Phoenix Police Investigate 2 Early-Morning Friday Homicides
The Phoenix Police Department reported 2 unrelated Friday morning homicides: Lance McDowdell and David Morales, both in their twenties.

PHOENIX, AZ — The Phoenix Police Department reported two unrelated Phoenix homicides that both occurred in the early morning hours on Friday.
Homicide Victim No. 1: Lance McDowdell
The first homicide happened around 1:40 a.m. Friday, when police found Lance McDowdell, 25, with serious gunshot wounds in an apartment complex driveway in the 2600 N. 44th St. area.

McDowdell was taken to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries. Police have no information on the suspect yet.
Homicide Victim No. 2: David Morales

The second homicide Friday morning took place at 3:20 a.m., less than two hours after McDowdell was killed. This time, the victim was David Morales, 23, who was found by police on the ground at an apartment complex parking lot in the block of 2400 E. McDowell Road. He, like McDowdell, had also been shot. Morales died at the scene, however.
Police describe the suspect who shot Morales as a male with a short beard, brown hair and a light complexion. The suspect was last seen wearing a white and blue hooded sweatshirt and a white and blue hat.
