Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:

  1. The Phoenix City Council has approved a new ordinance that aims to prevent discrimination against renters and homebuyers based on their source of income. The “Source of Income Discrimination Prohibition” ordinance is similar to a Tucson law that's currently in review. The ordinance will offer protections for residents who rely on government assistance for their income, such as Section 8 housing vouchers, unemployment, veteran’s benefits, and Social Security disability insurance. 2. Rosso Italian, a new eatery by the Pomo Restaurant Group, has opened its doors in downtown Phoenix's Cityscape location. The restaurant offers a contemporary twist on premium Italian cuisine and draws inspiration from global flavors. With a sleek and rustic interior design, Rosso Italian aims to provide a memorable dining experience for all guests, serving carefully crafted appetizers, seafood, entrees, and the signature Napoletana pizza found at its sister restaurant, Pomo Pizzeria. 3. Pharmedica USA LLC, a Phoenix-based company, is recalling two lots of Purely Soothing 15 percent MSM eye drops due to potential contamination. Although there have been no reported injuries related to the product, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has advised consumers to stop using the drops immediately to avoid serious health issues, including blindness. This recall is the latest in a series of recent recalls of eye products, including Brimonidine Tartrate Ophthalmic Solution, 0.15 percent, and over-the-counter EzriCare and Delsam Pharma’s Artificial Tears eye drops, which were linked to an outbreak of drug-resistant infections that have caused one death and vision loss in eight people.
