Pnoenix Students 'March For their Lives' In Gun Violence Protest
To mark the 19th anniversary of the massacre at Columbine High School, students from across the valley marched to protest gun violence.
PHOENIX, AZ – The chants of "Never Again" echoed across the Valley as students from Hamilton HS in Chandler to Saguaro HS in Scottsdale to Metro Tech in Phoenix marched out to protest gun violence. They were part of a nationwide series of walkouts at more than 2,500 high schools around the country.
The walkouts marked the 19th anniversary of the massacre at Columbine High School in Colorado where 12 students and one teacher were killed.
Three students who survived the latest massacre – at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida – were in Phoenix to take part in the rallies.

Arizona students want Gov. Ducey to call a special session of the legislature to deal with gun violence. He has shown no indication that he will do so and no indication that he will meet with students. (Get Phoenix Patch's daily newsletter and real-time news alerts. Several hundred student from around the state then converged on the state capitol where they staged a "die-in," lying down to represent people who have been killed.

The governor stayed away from Phoenix on Friday, choosing to be in Prescott and Snowflake.
