Silent Witness's Unsolved Crime Roundup: Can You Help Solve Them?

These six Phoenix crimes are all felonies that remain unsolved. Do you know anything about these individuals or crimes ?

PHOENIX – The following six Silent Witness homicides, robberies and burglaries in Phoenix remain unsolved. Investigations are underway, but the Phoenix Police Department again recently forwarded these six crimes to the media, to find out if any members of the public have any additional information on these crimes, the victims, or suspects. Do you know anything about any of the following incidents?

Tips leading to indictment or arrest could earn you up to $1,000, and even callers earning a reward can stay anonymous.

Fatal hit and run

On Tuesday, July 2 around 12:20 a.m., Steven Hoffman, 37, was walking east with a friend on a sidewalk on the south side of Dunlap Avenue near 22nd Ave. when an eastbound vehicle left the roadway and struck Hoffman only. The vehicle’s driver never stopped, and Hoffman died from injuries sustained during the incident. Police believe the hit-and-run vehicle is a dark green 2002 Ford Expedition.

Homicide victim found on street

On Sunday, July 14 shortly before 11 p.m., Jose Gledin Alberto Gomez was found dead with gunshot wounds on a roadway in the area of Van Buren Street and 25th Avenue. He had been seen alive around 10:15 p.m. that night at his home about a half mile from the place he was found.

Armed robberies, Circle K and 7-11 stores

Two suspects are wanted in connection with Phoenix convenience store robberies. On Saturday, Aug. 3, a masked suspect walked into the Circle K store at 19830 N. 7th Street in Phoenix and showed the clerk a simulated weapon. Next, the suspect removed money from the cash register and took lottery tickets and cigarettes and walked out of the store. The stolen lottery tickets were cashed a few hours later at another store in the area by an individual whose description matched that of the masked Circle K robber. Then on Tuesday, Aug. 13, a masked suspect wearing clothes like the Circle K robber wore entered a 7-11 store at 2424 W. Greenway Road, this time aided by an unmasked suspect who wore a construction hat. The second suspect was armed with a holstered handgun. The two suspects robbed the cash register and took lottery tickets and cigarettes before they walked out of the store. Both suspects are described as black males.

A male suspect entered the Shell gas station at 4005 E. Southern Ave. in Phoenix on Thursday, Aug. 15 at about 9 p.m. The suspect took a handgun out of his waistband and placed it on the counter so that it was pointed at the clerk. The suspect demanded that the clerk give him money from the register, but then left the store without waiting for the money or stealing anything. The suspect is described as a Native American or Hispanic male about 19 to 21 years old, around 5’7” with medium length brown hair and an average build, driving a silver truck.

Attempted armed robbery of an individual

On Thursday, Aug. 15 around 9:30 p.m., after completing an ATM transaction and getting in her vehicle, a 36-year-old woman was approached by a Hispanic male suspect, 5’11”, 250 lbs and wearing blue jeans, a red shirt, white shoes and a red bandana. The suspect pointed a shotgun at the woman and started talking, but the victim quickly drove away. The suspect then left the area in a red sedan.

Homicide

On Sept. 2 around 3:45 a.m., several individuals notified authorities of a residential burglary with an individual pounding on doors near 2800 W. Palm Lane. When the Phoenix Fire Department arrived, they found Jason Robinson, 43, who had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. His killer is still at large.
