Teen Attempts To Save A Drowning Man On Salt River On Labor Day
A 14-year-old male attempted to save a man who appeared to be in distress on the Salt River on Labor Day.

PHOENIX, AZ – On Labor Day, slightly after 4 p.m., the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call about a man floating along the Lower Salt River who appeared to be in distress. “It was reported he was in the center of the river, by himself, with no floation aids on,” according to information provided by the MCSO Tuesday, azfamily.com reported.
Sgt. Bryant Vanegas explained that a 14-year-old male swam toward the man and tried to save him but couldn’t. The teen saw the man go under the water, as did a witness who talked to police. A kayaking couple later saw the man close to a boat ramp and pulled his body ashore.
Authorities said there didn’t appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death. The police have not yet released the man’s name. Read the full story at azfamily.com.
