Valley Of The Sun YMCA Offering Free Swim Lessons

Drowning's the leading cause of accidental death in kids under 4 . Valley of the Sun YMCA wants to change it by offering 1,600 free lessons.

PHOENIX, AZ – The leading cause of accidental death among children between 1 and 4-years-years-old is drowning. The Valley of the Sun YMCA believes that it doesn't have to be this way.

All this week the organization's 13 pools are offering free swimming lessons to a total of 1,600 non-swimmers,.

Anyone from 6-months to adults who don't know how to swim are eligible.

With the temperature having already settled above 100 several times, and people flocking to backyard pools to cool off, the Valley of the Sun wants "to teach all valley residents the life skill of swimming," they said.
