Woman Shot And Killed While Ordering From Food Truck

Destiny McClain, 23, was hit by gunfire in the 1700 block of East McDowell Road in Phoenix early Sunday morning.

PHOENIX — A woman who was ordering from a food truck in the McDowell Manors neighborhood of Phoenix early Sunday morning was shot and killed. Phoenix police identified the victim as 23-year-old Destiny McClain later on Sunday.

McClain was struck by gunfire when ordering food around 3:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of East McDowell Road, according to Mercedes Fortune, a public information sergeant with the Phoenix Police Department.

She was found with a life-threatening gunshot wound, police said, and died at a nearby hospital.

Fortune said multiple suspects were shooting from a vehicle in the area, and that the gunfire traveled to where McClain was, and hit her.

No one was in custody as of early Sunday afternoon.

Phoenix police have asked anyone with information to call either the police department or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
