- The Scottsdale Police Department has issued a warning to community members about a new scam involving callers who falsely claim to be police officers. Officials say the fraudsters use software that makes calls appear as though they are coming from a police department number, then claim the victim has a warrant that must be paid over the phone with credit or gift cards. Individuals who receive such a call are asked to hang up immediately and call the Scottsdale Police Department's non-emergency line at 480-312-5000 to report it. (Arizona's Family)
- The Adopt-A-Family program, which brings holiday cheer to over 200 families in need annually, is returning to Scottsdale this holiday season. Volunteers can now sign up to sponsor a family by donating necessities for a Thanksgiving meal and/or providing a grocery gift card and gifts from children's holiday wish lists. Residents who wish to participate but cannot sponsor a family are encouraged to make a monetary donation through Scottsdale Community Partners. (Signals AZ)
- A Scottsdale boxing gym is hosting a fundraiser to help fight the battle against degenerative brain diseases such as Parkinson's. The Pound Boxing Club on Northsight Boulevard will host its fifth annual charity event in support of the Michael J. Fox Foundation tomorrow, Oct. 22, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Individuals can register for the event in advance or tune into the live stream tomorrow on Facebook to learn more about supporting Parkinson's research.(Arizona's Family)
