- FOLLOW UP: A few days ago, the Scottsdale Daily came to you with a story about a pedestrian-involved accident on Saturday. We now know that Stanley Lambert, an ASU football player, has been arrested on DUI-related charges. Norah Bruther, a 23-year-old visiting from New Jersey, was struck while crossing the street in Old Town and died despite efforts of paramedics. Lambert was booked and released at the scene, although additional charges are possible. (Patch)
- Scottsdale Recovery Center (SRC) announced the opening of a residential facility for clients struggling with substance abuse disorder. The new Sweetwater Center is a 10-bed home where clients can stay up to 60-days during their recovery process. Near Thunderbird and 64th Street, the center is intended to help accommodate the 50% admission rate increase that SRC saw between 2019 and 2020. (AZ Big Media)
- The Spring 2022 Hospital Safety Grades are out, and Scottsdale boasts two "A" grade hospitals, according to The Leapfrog Group. The independent nonprofit health care watchdog group ranks Thompson Peak Hospital and Shea Medical Center as top notch among Arizona's health facilities. In the "B" grade, we have Osborn Medical Center. Nice job Scottsdale! (Patch)
- On May 16 and 17, Scottsdale is hosting two workshops aimed at providing information to residents and hearing their perspectives on the City's first sustainability plan. After last year's declaration of the Colorado River shortage, Scottsdale launched Stage 1 of its drought management plan. There are many ways residents can aid in this sustainability plan, and the workshops are a perfect place to learn how! Register here, as spaces are limited. (KJZZ)
- Scottsdale's evolvedMD, a behavioral health services company, raised $5.4 million during its series A funding round. Following the philosophy of "Behavioral Health for All," evolvedMD uses an integrative technique to allow easier access for patients, less burn out for providers, and decreased stigma around mental health treatment. Primary care providers such as Honor Health, Foothill Family Clinic, Ogden Clinic, Apricus Health, Granger Medical, and Premiere Family Health are current partners of evolvedMD. - Creative Brands of Phoenix has acquired Pomchies LLC of Scottsdale. Founded by Heather Clark in 2002, Pomchies is known for new and innovative hair accessories. Pomchies was even a Super Bowl vendor!
