Here are the top stories today in Scottsdale:
- Live in Scottsdale but commute to ASU or NAU's state-wide campuses? Be prepared for a tuition increase across Arizona's public universities in the 2022-23 school year. The good news is most students currently enrolled are locked into their original tuition rate, although certain fees could still rise. Patch's own Caitlin Sievers covers the Arizona Board of Regents decision to increase tuition after a two-year pandemic-related freeze. (Patch)
- Banner Health is looking to buy 40 to 50 acres in north Scottsdale. Plans for the next hospital campus at the northeast corner of Loop 101 and Hayden Road have been underway since January, but Banner Health's land purchase application is now submitted. Although the Arizona State Land Department said the land would be auctioned off, no date for bidding is set. (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
- Fashion Square just got a little more luxurious. Christian Louboutin, creator of the iconic, red-bottomed heels, opened its first Arizona boutique. The 2,334 square foot boutique boats hand-painted landscape by French artist Alexandre Poulaillon, nods to Parisian and Portuguese styles, and woven abaca ceilings. Not interested in shoes? Louboutin also boasts beauty products, purses, bags and accessories. (Arizona Foothills Magazine)
More News From Around Maricopa:
- After driving 115 mph, a teenager crashed Tuesday night in Phoenix. Eulalio Juarez Rodriguez, 18, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after a mother died and her 4 year old was critically injured in the accident. (Patch)
- Despite two years of pandemic closures and travel restrictions, passengers are flocking back to the sky as the world reopens. And yet, Sky Harbor continues to experience critical staffing shortages at bookstores, restaurants, and other terminal shopping remain closed. (KOLD News 13)
