AZ Liquor Detective Update + Flood Prevention + SUSD Quarantine
The Scottsdale Daily is the quickest way to get caught up on everything worth knowing today in town.

Hey, Scottsdale! Let's get you all caught up to start this Wednesday off on an informed note. Here are the most important things happening in Scottsdale today.
First, today's weather: The flood warning for Maricopa County ended at 3:15 AM this morning, but residents should still exercise caution. Scattered thunderstorms in the morning, partly cloudy with a few stray showers. High: 94 Low: 83. Oh, and the humidity is going to hit 61% today.
FOLLOW UP STORY: On August 5, the Scottsdale Daily featured a story about the investigation into Detective Mike Sanchez, a former Arizona liquor department detective, for inappropriately interacting with a stripper during an undercover operation about COVID-19 violation, being dishonest with internal affairs investigators, and altering the original case report. Now, the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board are opening a case regarding certifications for Sanchez and Deputy Director Mike Rosenberger. The case does not directly look at Sanchez' alleged actions at the strip club, but his dishonesty and attempted cover-up of the report thereafter. (AZFamily)

Here are the top stories today in Scottsdale:
- With the recent monsoons surpassing rain totals for the past two seasons combined, it is time Scottsdale residents start considering (or better yet, improving) flood control options. As most residents use sandbags provided by the city, there can be a shortage when a new storm approaches. City officials recommend flood diversion tubes, transportable flood fence barriers, and water absorbent cushions. (City of Scottsdale)
- Valley doctors are overwhelmed by patients this summer, leaving patients to sit through longer than usual wait times. Although viruses and upper respiratory infections are common in the Valley each summer, this year the fear of a respiratory infection being COVID-19 is caused a massive influx in doctor's visits. The hospital bed shortage is so severe, that one patient had to wait 19 hours for care after suffering a cardiac event. (ABC15)
- Despite the recent rainfall, Arizona is still in the middle of a historic water shortage as the Southwest and West battle through a 22-year drought. Water shortages and cuts affects "national forests and parks, tourism, the local economy, landscaping, agriculture, and homebuilding." But it can also affect homeowners, real estate, and farmland sales. (AZ Big Media)
- The Scottsdale Unified School District superintendent is seeking guidance from the county regarding quarantine measures for those who contract or come in contact with someone who has COVID-19. Dr. Scott A. Menzel is asking the board is quarantine is recommended or required, as there are conflicting recommendations around this. (Scottsdale Progress)
