WEATHER ALERT: You all know the drill at this point. But with such high heat, please be aware of the heat advisory in effect. The hottest part of the week was Saturday and Sunday, but please stay inside when possible and keep hydrated. This goes for your pets too! Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. Attention Scottsdale Parents: The Arizona Department of Health Services launched a new resource website for families struggling during the baby formula shortage. Although Abbott Nutrition, the country's largest baby formula producer, has began operation again, it will be some time before supplies are widely available again. In the meantime, the website (found HERE) answers family' frequently asked questions about switching formulas, side affects of different formulas, and more. Also for those want to, but can't, breastfeed or need to switch to breastmilk following the shortage, you can check with a local milk bank or the 24-Hour Arizona Breastfeeding Hotline at 1-800-833-4642. 2. Lack of pickleball courts is causing a stir in Scottsdale. Over the past few years, residents have complained over long wait times for the City's three parks with pickleball courts and are now having official meetings with the Parks and Recreation Department to discuss possible solutions. Some residents are so irritated with the nearly 40 minute wait times that they took their pickleball games, and money, to Queen Creek or Surprise, where courts are plentiful. Part of the issue with expanding courts beyond Horizon Park, Thompson Peak Park , and Cholla Park is the lack of undeveloped land in South Scottsdale. (Scottsdale Progress)
  3. The Scottsdale-based integrated marketing agency, The James Agency, announced the appointment of Megan Simoes as the company's first female president. Simoes has been with the company since 2013 and plans on using her position as president to "support the agency’s growing team of talent" and continue the upward trend from 2021. (AZ Big Media)
  4. It's not Scottsdale, but Phoenix is only a short trip away — and well worth it to see some dinosaurs! That's right, the Phoenix Zoo is hosting "Dinosaurs in the Desert" after a five-year hiatus. Animatronic dinosaurs will invade the Zoo from October 3 through April 30, with Zoo members getting special access October 1. (KTAR News)
