- The Scottsdale Police Department has increased its presence at BASIS Scottsdale after receiving threats last week. According to the department, the threats indicated a potentially violent act that would possibly occur at the school on Tuesday. The department's detectives are working on determining the validity of the threats. There were several threats issued against schools in Arizona in August. (The Arizona Republic)
- The City of Scottsdale is reminding the community that a Temporary Active Permit must be obtained before special events can be hosted at the Scottsdale Airport. The permit will be approved by aviation staff for events such as fundraisers and commercial photography. The permits are to ensure that guidelines and processes are met to keep the airport safe. - Seniors love Scottsdale — so much so, that we've been ranked No. 7 in a list of the nation's best cities to retire in! A new study from WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities and looked at affordability, quality of life, health care, and availability of recreational activities for seniors. Scottsdale ranked second in the country for the highest percentage of the population aged 65 and older and was recognized for its mild weather, recreation and senior centers per capita, and adult volunteer activities per capita.
