Camelback Desert School® Campers Donate More Than 480 School Supply Items to Children in Need

Campers collected backpacks and school supplies for Phoenix Rescue Mission to help children in need

Summer campers at Camelback Desert School in Scottsdale recently held a donation drive to benefit Phoenix Rescue Mission, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. Together, campers and their families donated backpacks and more than 480 school supply items, including crayons, folders, glue sticks, notebooks, pencils, and other classroom essentials. Through this initiative, campers learned the importance of helping others and giving back to the community.

Camelback Desert School instills a sense of social responsibility at an early age by implementing opportunities for students to learn about the importance of giving back to their communities and helping others in need. Its signature Links to Learning preschool curriculum emphasizes social-emotional learning as a stepping stone for kindergarten and beyond. Teachers work with children to help recognize and label emotions in themselves and others, while learning how they fit into their community and the larger world.
