Camelback Desert School® Students Release Ladybugs and Butterflies

students celebrated Earth Day and protecting the environment by releasing thousands of beneficial bugs into their schoolyard

On April 22, students at Camelback Desert School in Scottsdale bugged out in celebration of Earth Day as they released ladybugs and butterflies throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers, and trees.

Leading up to Earth Day, students learned that ladybugs serve as a natural pesticide by feeding on insects that could otherwise harm the health of gardens, trees, and shrubs. Camelback Desert School teaches the importance of caring for the earth and exploring nature at an early age.
