Here are the top three stories in Scottsdale today:
- The Scottsdale Public Library has announced the themes of its upcoming Hometown Happy Hour events. The free public events are talks that present entertaining and unique stories about Scottsdale. Participants will be able to enjoy non-alcoholic beverages and light snacks. Space is limited. Click the following link to view the full list of themes. (Daily Independent)
- There are 14 candidates running to serve on the Central Arizona Water Conservation District Board. The 15-member board sets policies and rates for the Central Arizona Project. Maricopa County supplies the board with 10 members. There are five seats open for Maricopa County. (East Valley Tribune)
- Maricopa County's recent measles cases highlight the state's declining vaccination rates among children. The vaccination is responsible for a 73 percent reduction in measles deaths since 2000, according to the World Health Organization. The Arizona Department of Health Services reports that the state has lost half a percent every year since 2014. The number of schools in Arizona with measles herd immunity is down to single digits.
