  1. Scottsdale police are investigating a kidnapping and robbery incident involving a North Scottsdale resident. The resident met a young female at Juan Jaime's restaurant, she agreed to follow him back to his home near Westland and Pima roads, and then a serious of unfortunate events occurred that Wednesday morning. Three armed men in masks allegedly broke into the man's house around 2 a.m., stole his credit cards, took him at gunpoint to an ATM machine to withdraw cash, dropped him off at the Walmart near Loop 101 and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, and took off in his car. The incident is still under investigation, but officials state there is no ongoing threat to the community. (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
  2. The City of Scottsdale will officially unveil the newly remodeled Scottsdale Civic Center during the "Fall in Love with Scottsdale Civic Center" event, which is set to run from Oct. 3 through Nov. 22. The event will include "more than 70 activities," which will take place "in and around the center and throughout Old Town." Residents can enjoy concerts, participate in walking tours, attend the Veterans Day commemoration, and more! Check out the full lineup of events here. (KTAR.com)
  3. Tom's Incredible Ice Cream is giving away a free scoop of ice cream in a cone or cup to celebrate its grand opening ceremony! The ice cream shop is located in Old Town at 3712 N. Scottsdale Road, and you can grab your free scoop from 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Mayor David Ortega will be there to "serve the ceremonial 'first scoop' in place of a ribbon cutting ceremony," and any donations made at the event will benefit Banner Children's Hospital.
