The future of Scottsdale is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Suraj Puvvadi, who are making a positive impact in and around Scottsdale.

Suraj, a senior at Arizona State University and a standout student in biomedical informatics, was selected as one of 34 ASU recipients of the prestigious DAAD-RISE award in 2024. Suraj spent the summer conducting research in Jülich, Germany, through this competitive program sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service. The award recognizes his dedication to STEM research and innovation, as well as his academic excellence within Barrett, The Honors College and the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering.

However, Suraj’s passion for education and mentorship began long before his collegiate achievements. As a high school student at BASIS Scottsdale, he volunteered hundreds of hours tutoring K-12 students across Arizona, motivating them to pursue academic and personal success. With his accomplishments spanning both local volunteerism and global research opportunities, Suraj represents the next generation of leaders dedicated to making a difference through education and innovation.
