The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening this weekend in Scottsdale.

Hey Scottsdale! Are you ready for the long weekend? If so, then give this edition a read as I will be keeping you up-to-date on all the Memorial Day festivities.
And as a daughter of an Army Officer, I would be remiss not to thank all of our military veterans and their families. Between the fun activities, cookouts, and general family gatherings, let us not forget that on Memorial Day we pay special tribute to service members who lost their lives in the line of duty.
As we all know, at this point in the year the weather is basically the same. But, nevertheless, here is your weekend weather:

Here are the top stories today in Scottsdale:
- The Scottsdale Police Department announced the arrest of Marcos Anthony Herrera, 41, and Anthony Michael Murray, 45, in connection to a crime spree that spanned the Valley. The two are allegedly responsible for at least 12 separate crimes in multiple cities. (FOX 10 News Phoenix)
- Scottsdale City Council approved the abandonment of 68th Street in Scottsdale. The controversial debate began when residents along east Exeter Boulevard submitted a request for the city to abandon the 10-foot-wide strip of right-of-way, allowing the homeowners to extend their property for a kitchen renovation. Others advocated for the city to keep the land so that a public sidewalk could be installed to improve pedestrian safety. The council is still working with the 68th Street Sidewalk Association, a group of pedestrian safety advocates, to determine a solution to widening the sidewalk. - Tomorrow starts the 'Summer of Sharks' at OdySea Aquarium! The Scottsdale aquarium boasts one of the largest and most diverse shark exhibits in the country — making it a prime location to learn all about our aquatic friends. From a tour of the shark habitats, touch pools, live discussions with shark experts, and creative kids' activities, there is something for everyone. (AZ Big Media)
- Gastromé Market, a massive 5,000-square-foot gourmet food market and restaurant, is calling north Scottsdale home starting this summer. Jenny Le and Tiffany Chavez are creating the space on Doubletree Ranch and Scottsdale roads to serve as "a restaurant, a market and a classroom" (AZ Central).
- The south is heading west! Ole Miss' men's golf team is tee-ing off in Scottsdale. The National Championship is being held at Grayhawk Golf Club today through Wednesday, June 1. If you want to watch the tournament without enduring the heat, then tune into the Golf Channel starting Monday. (Red Cup Rebellion)
- Scottsdale Consumer Warning: Walmart, Del Monte, and Albertsons have recalled products contain Jiff peanut butter due to salmonella contamination. Although no cases of illness are reported in Arizona, as of Thursday 14 people across 12 states got sick as a result of the contamination. Only Jiff products made in Lexington J.M. Smucker Co. facility, where the strain originated, are being recalled. Check out the Patch article for a full list of recalled Jif products. (Patch)
Memorial Day Weekend News:
- Although the Arizona Department of Transportation reported no freeway closures this Memorial Holiday weekend, driver's should plan ahead for major traffic and congestion on the roadways. Here are some things you should have in you vehicle in the event of unexpected travel delays: first aid kit, atlas/paper map, phone charger, snack, and lots of water. Please be patient on the roads and courteous to other drives — this allows everyone to stay safe and keep the traffic moving. (12news.com KPNX)

There are too many to list here, but a sampling of what to expect includes: $3 tacos at Diego Pops, free Pre-Memorial Day Party at Luckys Indoor Outdoor, Drag Disco Brunch at Kähvi Coffee + Cafe, and Pedal Haus Brewery military discount.
