Scottsdale group demands city repeal Axon deal or face lawsuit (azcentral.com) — Scottsdale residents may see a new legal fight over the massive Axon headquarters project in north Scottsdale, as a local political committee demands the City Council repeal its recent agreement or face a lawsuit. The group argues the deal sidestepped normal zoning procedures and voter referendum rights, while city officials insist the claims are without merit and the project has already been scaled back.
   

2. Several school districts weigh campus closures (abc15.com) — Scottsdale Unified has voted 3–2 to close Echo Canyon School and Pima Elementary at the end of this school year, forcing families to move students to new campuses in the fall. District leaders cite declining enrollment and funding pressures, and say the two buildings will be repurposed for yet-to-be-determined educational uses. The board will now begin a second phase reviewing other smaller elementary schools.
   

3. Porch pirates using Wi-Fi jamming technology to disable security cameras (azfamily.com) — Scottsdale residents are being warned that porch pirates in some states are using cheap Wi‑Fi jamming gadgets to knock out home security cameras, though Scottsdale Police say they haven’t received such reports locally yet. Experts suggest hardwired or locally storing cameras, multiple Wi‑Fi networks, and simple delivery strategies like staying home or in‑store pickup to reduce theft risks.
   

4. WWE star Nikki Bella selected as VRBO Fiesta Bowl grand marshal (azcentral.com) — A WWE Hall of Famer with deep Scottsdale roots is coming home as Nikki Bella leads the VRBO Fiesta Bowl Parade as grand marshal on January 3, 2026, in central Phoenix. Bella, who grew up playing soccer in Scottsdale and attended Chaparral High, calls the honor a full-circle moment and hints fans might even see a Bella Twins reunion on her float.
   

5. Arizona HS boys soccer players given AIA approval to play in MLS event (azcentral.com) — Arizona high school boys soccer players are now allowed to compete in the MLS NEXT Fest without losing eligibility, after the AIA reclassified the event as a verified ID camp. Coaches statewide, including Scottsdale Chaparral’s Jason Speirs, are juggling packed schedules and player fatigue as several athletes split time between high school games and the showcase. The change opens major recruiting exposure but adds strain to already busy seasons.
