- Police have arrested a suspect in the deadly shooting of a Red Robin employee that took place in June. Authorities say 23-year-old Carlos Herrera shot and killed Joseph Doyle during an attempted robbery of the restaurant located near Talking Stick Way and Pima Road. Herrera faces charges of first-degree premeditated murder, attempted burglary, and attempted robbery with a deadly weapon. (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
- The rapper Young MC, known for his hit song "Bust a Move," will host his first American Red Cross blood drive this Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Orange Tree Resort in Scottsdale. The Scottsdale native and Grammy-award-winning rap artist says he was inspired to lead the cause after learning how his own blood donation helped people in two different surgeries. Interested donors can sign up for this weekend's blood drive at the American Red Cross website. (East Valley Tribune)
- A Scottsdale judge recently traveled to Washington, D.C. as part of a five-member Arizona delegation seeking peace and aid for Ukraine. Judge Orest Jejna, a first-generation Ukrainian American judge who has served with the Scottsdale Municipal Court for more than two decades, represented the Arizona Ukrainian American community and the Ukrainian American Bar Association during the three-day Ukraine Action Summit in the nation's capital. The delegation met with nine of 11 Arizona members of Congress to discuss efforts to help rebuild Ukraine. (Daily Independent)
