About the Fountain Hills Women’s Club
Established in 1974, the Fountain Hills Women’s Club (FHWC) was one of the very first non-profit volunteer social and service organizations in the community. The history of the FHWC is closely entwined with the history of the township itself, which was founded just four years earlier, in 1970.
The club’s activities throughout the year include monthly luncheons with programs and guest speakers on a wide range of timely and relevant topics, book club meetings, newcomer coffees, a holiday tea, and social outings to nearby points of interest.
The highlight of the year, and the club’s main fundraiser, is the annual springtime luncheon. This popular and widely attended event brings in club members and guests from miles around to raise monies for the Fountain Hills Women’s Club Scholarship Fund. In addition to offering two scholarships each year to graduating high school seniors, the organization’s primary mission is to provide scholarships for women, age 23 and older, who either live or work in Fountain Hills so that they can continue their education and advance their careers. To date, the FHWC has awarded more than $350,000 to recipients representing a wide range of backgrounds and professions to benefit the entire community.
The FHWC has lent community support in other ways over the years, as well, through monetary and volunteer assistance to support local causes and organizations such as the Fountain Hills Library Association, Fountain Hills Senior Center, River of Time Museum, the Fountain Hills Fountain of Light, the Extended Hands Food Bank, Fountain Hills Chorus, Fountain Hills High School Band, and Fountain Hills Theatre.
