SCOTTSDALE, AZ — A two-month old kitten has gone missing from a Scottsdale animal rescue, and the shelter believes he may have been stolen.
Foothills Animal Rescue is asking for the public's help in finding Gray, a two-month old kitten, after he disappeared from the rescue's Brynne Smith Memorial Campus in north Scottsdale.
He was last seen by staff members at 2:30 p.m. on Monday when most of the shelter was in quarantine after two staffers tested positive for the coronavirus. A volunteer informed leadership the cat was missing during her 4:30 p.m. shift.

“We are a fairly small shelter and that makes it easy for us to keep track of
the dogs and cats in our care,” Foothills Animal Rescue CEO Shannon Valenzuela said in a statement.
Gray had been housed with three other cats in one of the shelter's cat rooms. Staff members have scoured the shelter for Gray and left out food in several spots both Monday and Tuesday night, but the kitten is nowhere to be found.

At the time of Gray’s disappearance, there were two employees working in the administrative offices at the front of the shelter. Neither of them saw anything suspicious, according to the rescue.
Gray was not wearing a collar at the time of his disappearance, but the kitten is microchipped to Foothills Animal Rescue. The microchip company is on alert if anyone should try to register it to a new name.
The rescue asks anyone with information to call (480) 488-9890.
