Here are the top stories today in Scottsdale:
- Scottsdale police were called to a beauty salon and spa on Scottsdale Road and Chauncey Laneafter a woman was found unresponsive in a tub of water. Spa employees drained the tub, removed the woman, and attempted CPR. Officers continued CPR until the fire department arrived. The woman, in her 50s, was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Neither the woman's name nor cause of death have been released. (Scottsdale Patch)
- Arizona Game and Fish Department detected three birds infected with avian influenza, or bird flu. The baby cormorants were located in Scottsdale at Eldorado Park near Hayden and McDowell roads. This is the first known case of bird flu in Scottsdale. More than 37 million birds in the U.S. have died from the disease so far. Although bird to human transmission risk is low, the possibility does exist. You should avoid wild birds, and wash your hands/wear gloves and face masks if you touch them. (AZ Family)
- Quasar Quantum Healing, a locally owned Scottsdale wellness studio, is expanding! Since its opening in January 2021, a section of the property was left unused. But owner Monica Samuels and her daughter created a yoga studio, complete with a Himalayan salt cave. The salt was no easy feat to obtain. After six months of waiting for its arrival from Pakistan, it then had to be crush and shaped to adorn The Studio. Who knew such a place was hidden on 73rd St! (Scottsdale Progress)
