Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. The Arizona Attorney General’s Office, Homeland Security, and officers from Mesa, Scottsdale, and Tempe police arrested 18 people for human trafficking in the Valley. The operation, called "Buyer Reduction", was centered around sex-crimes occurring by Country Club Drive and the US 60. (ABC 15)
  2. Eighteen teachers in the Scottsdale Unified School District were awarded $300 stipends to use toward school supplies this year. The generous donation comes from the DeFusco Law firm, which represents accident victims and their families. The firm's Classroom Supply Stipend began in 2018 and has since donated more than $25,000 for certified teachers. (Scottsdale Progress)
  3. The City of Scottsdale partnered with ASU to identify cooling strategies for the city. ASU is conducting studies and experiments to better understand the heat risks that Scottsdale faces, as well as determine how heat is experienced by residents in different areas of Scottsdale.   4. Cox YurView AZ is airing the past the past 40 years of Arizona high school football in a new documentary. The release, which features Scottsdale Saguaro, celebrates televised football and remembers George Allen — who first came up with the idea of televising high school football 40 years ago. The documentary is 22 minutes long and will begin airing Aug. 16 on Cox YurView web and Cox YurView cable Ch. 4. (AZCentral)
