🌱 Shoplifter Stopped By Bystanders Identified + 'Spook-Track-Ula' Tix

Here are the top stories today in Scottsdale:

1. The man who attempted to steal $150,000 in jewelry last Friday prior to being stopped by multiple bystanders has been identified as 53-year-old Troy Anthony Bell. The incident occurred near Scottsdale Road and 5th Avenue when multiple witnesses stated that they saw Bell grab a tray of jewelry from Marina Jewelers. According to court documents, Bell lied to SPD about his name, and it took approximately four hours for officers to confirm his identity after detaining him. Bell faces charges of "shoplifting, assault and refusing to provide his real name." You can check out the video of the bystanders stopping the suspect at the link. Multiple bystanders also helped to gather the jewelry that was scattered in the streets and bushes, and every missing piece was returned to Marina Jewelers. Way to go, Scottsdale! (Arizona's Family)
2. Scottsdale City Council has approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Rio Verde Foothills Standpipe District to bring water to Rio Verde Foothills. With this agreement, Scottsdale will "allow Rio Verde Foothills to use its infrastructure and treat water provided to them by the water company EPCOR, charging the standpipe district a base fee of $1,000 per month." Residents must apply and go through a validation process to become part of the district and receive water, which is expected to be back on by the end of the month. 3. Tickets are now on sale for "Halloween Spook-Track-Ula" at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park! The family-friendly events run from Oct. 6 through Oct. 31, and tickets must be purchased in advance for either 6 p.m. or 8 p.m. each night. You can purchase tickets for the spooky event here.
