- As reported in a previous Scottsdale Daily, Banner Health is opening a sports medicine center in Scottsdale, specifically on Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community land. And Wednesday they officially broke ground on the $54 million, 80,000-square-foot, three-story facility. The world class center has partnership prospects with the Phoenix Suns and Mercury, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Coyotes. (KTAR.com)
- General Counsel Lori Bird, the Scottsdale Unified School District’s attorney, is resigning after just one year. Her last day is June 30, along with five other members of the SUSD Board who submitted their own resignations. (Subscription: Daily Independent, Free: Newsbreak)

- Thirty miles outside of Scottsdale, Rio Verde Foothills is divided on its water future. For years the community's primary source of water came from wells or was transported in via truck from Scottsdale. After decades of reliance on Scottsdale for water, the Rio Verde Foothills found themselves without a supplier last year. Now, the community is looking at a Domestic Water Improvement District to solve their water problem. But critics worry the plan will leave residents vulnerable.(KTAR.com)
