Here are the top three stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. New Scottsdale bar Union Jack Pub is closing. While at first the business stated it was "temporarily closing for repairs," the pub's space has been listed as available to lease. The Union Jack replaced the Skeptical Chymist Irish Pub just 17 months ago. The British pub's second location at Dana Park in Mesa remains open. (The Arizona Republic)
  2. Reps. Joseph Chaplik and Alexander Kolodin of Scottsdale recently blasted what they say is a broken Arizona education system. Along with Rep. Justin Heap of Mesa, the Scottsdale representatives believe that schools aren't using the money they have to make teacher pay and classroom funding priorities. The House vote taken Tuesday won't be the last word on the contentious spending issue. (Daily Independent)
  3. Super Bowl LVII is bringing a plethora of big events to Scottsdale this weekend. From celebrity appearances to music, games, and activities, Scottsdale will enjoy a rousing weekend ahead of the big game. Today, enjoy the free ESPN Main Street Tailgate or purchase $1,000+ tickets for the rare Fred Minnick’s Bourbon Invitational event. (East Valley Tribune)
