First, let's kick off the weekend with a photo from reader Bill Valencia of an adult roadrunner. He is lovingly, and appropriately, nicknamed "Zooms!"

Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:
- Jace Denmark, 17, is bringing racing pride to Scottsdale. A junior at North Scottsdale's Notre Dame Preparatory High School, Denmark has been racing since he was five-years old — and his dedication shows. Denmark won the first race of this year's season in St. Petersburg, Florida. And before headed to Indianapolis for the rest of the season, the teen announced his partnership with Chandler's Radford Racing School. The school is owned by four entrepreneurs and is named after a British manufacturer of luxury automobiles. Denmark drives the Radford Racing School-sponsored F4 car as he competes for the USF2000 championship this season. (Scottsdale Progress)
- Speaking of Notre Dame Prep, the school held a record-breaking fundraiser last weekend! The annual Auction Fashion Show, held at J.W. Marriot Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort and Spa, boasted over 600 guests this year. The 'Desert Dreams' themed student-fashion show and auction garnered over $200,000 for the school. The funds will be used to purchase new busses and update classrooms next year. (Subscription: Daily Independent, Free: Notre Dame Prep)
- The North Valley Surgery Center in Scottsdale is taking The American Cancer Society's advice on suggested ages for colonoscopies for women. More women are getting, and dying from, colorectal cancer than before. To help catch the cancer early, the suggested age to get a colonoscopy is now 45 years, dropped from 50 years. Unfortunately, most women delay their appointments in order to have a female doctor. North Valley's new Women Giving Care Program is designed specifically to accommodate that request more quickly. Women who enroll in the program are guaranteed an all-female staff and care team from "patient check-in to the recovery room." (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
- The Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts announced its 2022-2023 Dance Series lineup, which features three contemporary dance companies. BODYTRAFFIC, from Los Angeles, and two New York City companies, Limón Dance Company and Dance Heginbotham, will perform at the Virginia G. Piper Theater. Subscriptions to the series are available now, and individual show tickets are available starting June 1. (Scottsdale Patch)
