2 Arrested In Connection With Fatal IKEA Parking Lot Shooting

The accused shooters fled the scene, but were later arrested in Maricopa, according to Tempe police.

TEMPE, AZ — One man was killed Monday afternoon after being shot in the IKEA parking lot in Tempe, and two teens were arrested in connection with the shooting, according to Tempe police.

Chris McCrimmon, 21, was shot around 1 p.m. Monday and was pronounced dead soon after that at a local hospital, police said.

Isaiah Williams, 18, and Saif Woods, 17 were both arrested on suspicion of first degree murder and aggravated robbery, according to police.

The three young men met in the IKEA parking lot Monday with the intention of exchanging marijuana for money, Tempe police said.

Then some sort of altercation happened that led to the shooting, and the teens fled the scene, according to police.

Witnesses at the scene gave police descriptions of the vehicle the two teens were in, and Tempe police sent an alert about the vehicle to nearby law enforcement agencies.

Soon Gila River police along with Maricopa police stopped the vehicle and detained the two teens, police said.

During a Tuesday news conference, Tempe Police Detective Natalie Barela told the public that the shooting was an isolated incident.

"I want to make sure that the community understands this is a safe place," Barela said. "People should not feel unsafe going to IKEA."

She thanked the witnesses and the surrounding businesses for their help and patience during the investigation at the scene on Monday and gave her condolences to McCrimmon's family and friends.
