Arrest Made In Death Of Man On Tucson's South Side
A 35-year-old man faces a second degree murder charge in the July 6 death of Rolando Rene Garcia.
TUCSON, AZ — Police in Tucson have made an arrest in connection with the July 6 death of Rolando Rene Garcia, who was found dead near the railroad tracks in the 5100 block of South Fletcher Avenue just after 11 a.m. that day.
Jose Quintero, 35, has been charged with second degree murder, kidnapping, abandoning a dead body, theft of means of transportation and prohibited possessor, Tucson police said in a news release Sunday. Quintero is in the Pima County Jail after he was found at a home in the 400 block of East Thoroughbred Street on Friday, police said.
Quintero was taken into custody "without incident," police said, in a search of the home that involved a SWAT team. Police said interviews, forensic evidence and help from the public led them to identify Quintero as the suspect.

Garcia, who was 45, was found on July 6 with "obvious signs of trauma," Tucson police said in a news release then.
Police said Garcia's death accounts for the 42nd Tucson homicide of 2021, a number that has already surpassed the 28 reported in all of 2020.
