TUCSON, AZ — Tucson Police have made an arrest in connection to the double hit-and-run in Tucson that left a pedestrian dead on New Year's Eve, police said in a news release. Police are still looking for the driver of the car that investigators believe initially hit the pedestrian, a white Nissan Rogue SUV that should have damage to its front bumper.
Roberto Alfredo Lara, 35, was booked into the Pima County Jail on suspicion of leaving the scene of a fatal accident and failure to render aid. As of Monday afternoon he was still in jail with bond set at $10,000.
Lara is accused of hitting 49-year-old pedestrian Manfred G. Rivas with his white Saturn Ion, just after Rivas was hit by another vehicle, and then driving away, according to police.
