Boy, 15, Charged In Shooting Death Of 16-Year-Old In Tucson

The boy was charged in connection with the shooting death of a 16-year-old on Tucson's south side Monday.

TUCSON, AZ — A 15-year-old boy was charged in the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy on Tucson's south side just before 11:30 a.m. Monday, Tucson police said.

The 15-year-old was charged with negligent homicide, Tucson police said.

Bond information was not released, and it is currently unknown whether the boy is in custody.

The negligent homicide charge carries a one-year minimum sentence in Arizona, with a maximum sentence of 3.7 years upon conviction.

The victim was killed near the intersection of South Fourth Avenue and East Benson Highway near Interstate 10, according to police.

Detectives found the boys had played with a handgun before it discharged, police said.
