Dead Horse Found Tied To A Tree In Pima County

The Pima County Sheriff's Department is asking for help finding the person who abandoned the horse.

PIMA COUNTY — A dead horse was found in Pima County, tied to a tree, bound by its hooves and with head trauma, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

The horse was found Feb. 26 in the desert near the intersection of Bopp and Rena roads.

Detectives from the county's Animal Cruelty Unit believe that the horse had been serviced in the past by a professional farrier, or someone who trims hooves and shoes horses.

Detectives are asking for the public's help in finding the person who abandoned the horse.

Dumping the remains of dead animals is a crime and remains of animals must be disposed of appropriately, such as through burial, the sheriff's department said.
