Death Of Man Found Inside Fiery Vehicle Reclassified As Homicide

When Luis A. Diaz's body was found inside a fiery vehicle Saturday, police called it a "suspicious death." They are now calling it homicide.

TUCSON, AZ — Tucson police have reclassified the death of 45-year-old Luis A. Diaz from a “suspicious death” to homicide. Diaz’s body was found in a vehicle entirely engulfed by flames Saturday around 2 a.m. in the 3400 block of E. 34th Street.

Tucson Fire and Tucson police were called to the scene Saturday in response to several 911 calls of a vehicle on fire. The fire department extinguished the fire and found Diaz’s body inside the vehicle. Tucson Police Department’s Violent Crimes Section detectives then took over the investigation.

Tucson police say that “details are extremely limited at this time” on this case. Anyone with information on Diaz's death is asked by detectives to call 88-CRIME. Tipsters can stay anonymous.
