TUCSON, AZ —Canada's Flair Airlines announced Tuesday that it has expanded its partnership with Tucson, launching a weekly non-stop, round-trip flight between London, Ontario and Tucson this winter.

The Edmonton, Alberta-based low-fare airline said it will begin offering the flights on Dec. 5, and they will run through the end of March.

This past March, Flair Airlines, The Tucson Airport Authority and Visit Tucson, which promotes travel to the city, announced an agreement to run several flights a week between five smaller Canadian airports and Tucson: Edmonton, Fort McMurray and Lethbridge, Alberta; Prince George, British Colombia and Windsor, Ontario.

While the partnership may be geared toward Canadian tourists flying south for the winter, it's also hoped that Arizona residents will explore Canada.

"We look forward to welcoming our visitors from Canada, and I hope Tucsonans will also take the opportunity to explore our partner communities up north," said Felipe Garcia, president and CEO of Visit Tucson.

Flair also will establish Tucson as a U.S. winter crew base and temporary home for its Canadian-based crews, according to the airline.

"We're delighted to add an additional airport to our upcoming Tucson Winter Base, and we're very excited to add London to our network," said Stephen Jones, chief executive officer of Flair Airlines. "We've seen the demand for non-stop sun this winter and we are pleased to offer an affordable option to London and the surrounding area."

Jones added: "There is no shortage of national parks, attractions, and vibrant nightlife in Tucson, and we can't wait for Canadians to get out and explore it all. We look forward to our continued partnership with London International Airport."

As far as Arizona residents going to Canada: London, Ontario is located 127 miles from Detroit, 119 miles from Toronto and 130 miles from Niagara Falls.

One-way fares from Tucson to London, Ontario begin at $66 before taxes and fees. More information is available on the Flair website.
