Joaquin Murrieta Park Baseball Field Renamed For Little Leaguer

Harry Hoskinson, who died four years ago when he was 12, will be honored Saturday with a baseball field named for him.

TUCSON, AZ – Saturday will be a big day for the family of Harry Hoskinson and all that knew him. Hoskinson, who died in 2014 when he was 12-years-old, will be honored with a baseball field named for him.

Field Number 7 at Joaquin Murrieta Park will be renamed "Harry's Field."

There will be a renaming ceremony at 6 p.m., followed at 7:30 p.m. by the first game played at "Harry's Field."

Harry was a catcher on a Western Little League team that played at the park. After he died, his family and friends raised money for renovations at the field.

His family said that in the five years that he played little league, the field was his home away from home.

"He was always the one leading the chants in the dugouts for other players, first one to do a backflip when someone had a great play," his mother, Sherry Hoskinson told Arizona Public Radio three years ago.

The Tucson City Council approved the renaming last August.
