Tips from PACC on how to keep pets safe during New Year's celebrations in Tucson (kvoa.com) — With New Year’s fireworks about to pop across Tucson, Pima Animal Care Center is warning that this is one of its busiest weeks for stray pets and urging owners to prepare now. Tucsonans are encouraged to secure yards and doors, check collars and tags, and visit PACC’s Silverbell Road lobby for free ID tags and supplies.
   

2. Looking ahead to Tucson's new and cool for '26 (tucson.com) — Tucson is gearing up for a big 2026, with the city’s first in-limits casino, a new midtown Trader Joe’s, and a Bass Pro Shops all on the way. Residents can also look forward to new restaurants, concert venues, theater productions, festivals like Gem & Jam, and luxury apartments at the redeveloped Uptown site where Foothills Mall once stood.
   

3. Suspect remains at large after Tucson Goodwill shooting (azcentral.com) — An armed suspect remains at large after a shooting at a Goodwill donation center in south Tucson that left two employees critically injured, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies say the man is driving a stolen white 2012 Volvo XC90 with Arizona plate C4A8Z4 and urge anyone who spots him to avoid contact and call 9-1-1 immediately.
   

4. Traveling Holocaust exhibit brings survivor stories (westvalleyview.com) — A major traveling Holocaust exhibit is coming to the Tucson Jewish Museum and Holocaust Center, where it will run from late November through August 2026 and feature stories from survivors Andrew Schot and Margot Frank. Part of a five-city Arizona series, the free exhibits use personal artifacts and survivor testimonies to preserve Holocaust memory and combat rising antisemitism through education.
   

5. Donate to Sportsmen's Fund Send A Kid to Camp, get an Arizona tax credit (tucson.com) — Tucson readers can use Arizona’s charitable tax credit to help send low-income and military-family kids from Southern Arizona to overnight camps, including YMCA, Girl Scouts, and Mt. Lemmon’s Sky School. The long-running Arizona Daily Star Sportsmen’s Fund directs 97% of donations to scholarships and is expanding science camp opportunities for Title 1 students in 2026.
