'Loop De Loop' Celebration Launches 'El Tour De Tucson' Season
Pima County recently announced a "Loop de Loop" celebration Sept. 21, marking the beginning of the 60-day "El Tour de Tucson" 2019 season.
TUCSON, AZ – The Perimeter Bicycling Association of America and Pima County are bringing a “Loop de Loop” celebration to Tucson and Pima County residents from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, Pima County recently announced. The event takes place along the Chuck Huckelberry Loop and launches the 2019 "El Tour De Tucson" 60-day season.
The free event occurs along the Santa Cruz, Rillito and Pantano River Parks in addition to the Julian Wash Greenway. On “The Loop” at the event, bicyclists and others will have a chance to talk with representatives of nonprofits designated to benefit from the 37th El Tour event on Nov. 23. Also while on “The Loop,” Saturday’s event attendees can gather tickets for a prize drawing held at a post-ride party from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Ramada Tucson, 777 W. Cushing St.
One of many stops in the Loop de Loop event will be at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park, where riders can sign up to join the Friends of Pima Animal Care Center’s team. Other stops along The Loop include Rillito Park Race Track, Ted Walker Park, Michael Perry Park, Augie Acuna Los Ninos Neighborhood Park, Roy Schoonover Trailhead and Julian Wash Archaeological Park.

The 130-mile Chuck Huckelberry Loop consists of short buffered bike lane segments and paved, shared-use paths that connect the Santa Cruz, Rillito and Pantano River Parks with the Harrison Road Greenway and the Julian Wash.
