Man Dies In Suspected Wrong-Way, Head-On Collision In Tucson
The man who died was suspected of driving the wrong way on Broadway Boulevard early Wednesday morning.
TUCSON, AZ — One man has died and two more people were injured in a head-on collision in Tucson early Wednesday morning, according to Tucson police.
Xavier Gonzalez-Mercado, 23, was killed in the collision, police said.
A woman who was not identified suffered life-threatening injuries and another person in the collision sustained minor injuries, according to police.

Around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday Gonzalez-Mercado is accused of driving east in the westbound lanes of East Broadway Boulevard when the Nissan he was driving collided head-on with a Mercedes headed in the opposite direction, police said in a news release.
Gonzalez-Mercado was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The driver and the passenger in the Mercedes were both taken to Banner University Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.
