Man Found Dead Near Northwest Hospital Discharged Days Earlier

Brian Hamm had been missing since he was discharged Thursday. His phone was broken and he suffered from confusion, according to his family.

TUCSON, AZ — A man who had been missing since being discharged from Northwest Medical Center last Thursday was found dead near the hospital on Monday, according to news reports and social media posts from his family.

Brian Hamm, 62, was found dead on Monday, but his son Robert Hamm said in a Facebook post that his father likely died several days before that.

"His state of confusion prevented him from getting a hold of anyone in our family in time to prevent his death and our extensive search efforts didn't produce the result we were all praying for," Robert Hamm said in the Facebook post.

Brian Hamm lived in Picture Rock and was taken to Northwest Medical Center on Thursday to be treated for a medical problem. When he was discharged Thursday, his phone was broken so he had no way to contact his family, Robert Hamm wrote.

Brian Hamm's family previously said that he had heart problems and seizures, and needed medication. Hamm also suffered from memory loss, causing him to be easily confused and frustrated, KOLD News 13 reported.

Deputies told KVOA News 4 that foul play was not suspected in Brian Hamm's death.

"Me and my family want to thank everyone who sent us their prayers, blessings, and information helping us try to prevent this outcome," Robert Hamm said in the Facebook post. "We really appreciate this community and the love we were shown. My father is in a better place now and can enjoy his eternal peace."
