Marana Unified School District Breaks Ground On New CSTEM School

The school is expected to open in the fall of 2019.

MARANA, AZ – The Marana Unified School District broke ground Friday morning on what will be the district's newest school.

The new school in Dove Mountain will focus on CSTEM – computer science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The district says that the school will provide students with the learning tools and resources – from mobile devices and specialized learning labs to outdoor learning areas, a media room, and specialized counselors – to "engage in exploratory, creative, hands-on learning.

Officials say that the school will offer full day free kindergarten, preschool, gifted education, special education, fine arts, as well as before and after school care. The school, which is being built with money raised by a bond in 2014, is scheduled to open in the fall of 2019. Officials say the school is also needed to help alleviate crowding in the district.
